Cyber Security Awareness Day 2009

This year Cyber Security Awareness Day was a great success! Over 800 participants attended the event, including Texas State students, staff and faculty as well as community members; students and teachers from local and neighboring high schools.

We thank everyone who was part of the Cyber Security Awareness Day and hope to see you all again next year.

Overview

Texas State University-San Marcos provides an annual conference on methods and practices for safe computing and information security. Our audience is diverse in their knowledge of computing including everyone from experts in the field to the novice who wants to learn more on how to keep their computer and sensitive information more secure. The conference was held on October 14, 2009, from 10 am to 3 pm at the LBJ Student Center Ballroom.

National Cyber Security Awareness Month - October 2009

The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), a consortium of government agencies and private industry sponsors, brings you National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) in October 2009. 

National Cyber Security Awareness Month is a national campaign designed to increase the public’s awareness of cyber security and crime issues, so that users can take precaution to avoid these threats on the Internet.  The month will feature public relations activities, educational programs, events and initiatives throughout October that targets home users, small businesses, education audiences (K-12 and higher education), and child safety online.

The National Cyber Security Alliance's will officially launch the National Cyber Security Awareness Month on October 1, 2009 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center Pavilion Room in Washington DC.
