In accordance with Texas State Network Use Policy (UPPS 04.01.05), this site will allow Technical Support Persons (TSP) to register their departmental devices. This policy is intended to minimize the exposure to hacks while maintaining an environment where the greater potential of our network can be utilized.
There have been many recent well-publicized cases of security breaches using commercially developed Web browser and/or Web server software. By exploiting such weaknesses, along with misconfigured servers or client software, it is possible for someone to gain unauthorized access to computer systems or information stored on computer systems at Texas State.
In order to minimize the potential of such break-ins, Technology Resources staff monitor security related news groups and official security advisories (CERT, Merit, Microsoft, NIPS, SANS, etc.) and take steps to prevent exploitation of known security holes. Because of this threat, it has become necessary for server operators and administrators to be aware of security problems inherent to network use and to also take appropriate steps to prevent security breaches.
