Mobile computing and storage devices are extremely convenient yet pose a considerable risk if lost or stolen. Information stored on these devices or media may result in identity theft or unauthorized access to secure systems, networks, and resources. Some practices that you can employ to ensure security of your mobile device:
Sensitive and confidential information should not be stored on portable devices or media such as laptops, PDAs, smart phones, USB drives, CDs, DVDs, tape cartridges, etc.
If it becomes absolutely necessary to use a mobile device for storage, protect it by using some form of encryption and other controls. When not in your personal possession, keep all such mobile devices in a locked and secure area.
